Does this trade make sense for the Utah Jazz?

The Utah Jazz have a legitimate star in Donovan Mitchell. He has shown that he can get it done on the big stage and has already signed a long-term deal, similar to Rudy Gobert. Utah has pieces in place but could be looking to add some more fire power.

CJ McCollum knows what it is like to play with an elite point guard. This means that he would fit right into the system in Utah. The Jazz would be able to game plan in many ways on the offensive end of the floor.

McCollum can score at all three levels and is continuing to improve his game further. This trade will give Utah one of the best backcourts in the game. McCollum could be a replacement in case Mike Conley decides to leave in NBA free agency.

It is likely that Conley will be a priority in the offseason. With that being said, it is no guarantee that he decides to return. If he leaves, this is a hole in the backcourt that McCollum could fill right away.

It will be difficult to find a replacement for Mike Conley if was to actually depart in NBA free agency. Given how the team failed to make it to the Western Conference Finals. Failing to close out the LA Clippers despite Kawhi Leonard not playing in either Game 5 or 6 was concerning to see, particularly for a top-seeded team.
