Ahead of what is expected to be an exciting offseason in the NBA, Lonzo Ball is one of the notable names that could be available. Ball’s situation is different than most of the other big-name free agents as he is a restricted free agent for the New Orleans Pelicans.
With there being rumors spread around the NBA about the Bulls not being sold on Coby White as a long-term point guard option, it’s entirely possible they could pursue a point guard in free agency. Could Lonzo Ball be the answer they seek?
The Pelicans can decide to match any offer extended to him in the offseason in hopes to retain him. The Chicago Bulls are a team rumored to have interest in Ball, and they could take another avenue to ensure they get Ball this offseason.
To avoid the possibility of the Pelicans matching any offer they give Ball, the Bulls could partake in a sign-and-trade scenario.

Chicago could converse with New Orleans on a trade that both sides like, allowing them to get Ball without the chance of them being disappointed with the outcome. If they aren’t willing to keep Ball on a large contract, this is the next best option.
