Veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick had his incredible playoff streak snapped after his first season with the New Orleans Pelicans following the 2019-20 season. He started a new streak with the Dallas Mavericks this season, but was unable to get on the court because of an injury.

Now, he is entering free agency and will be looking to latch on with a playoff team once again. Going into his age-37 season, the Roanoke, Virginia native isn’t expected to have too robust of a market, but there will still be several contending teams expected to show interest in him.

According to NBA Analysis Network’s own Evan Massey, at least four contenders are expected to have an interest in the free-agent sharpshooter; the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets.

The Lakers are desperate for three-point shooting help after they struggled mightily during the 2020-21 season. New York could use another shooter as well, but point guard is their more pressing need. JJ Redick has some familiarity with the 76ers after playing there for two seasons.

Redick will be among the ring-chasing veterans that the Nets court this season. His family also lives in Brooklyn, so they are probably the leaders in the clubhouse for him at the moment.

He was disappointed when the Pelicans traded him to the Mavericks, as he was under the impression there was an understanding that he wanted to be closer to his family. If a trade wasn’t consummated, he would be bought out and have the ability to pick his next team.

As for JJ Redick, he knocked down 37.1 percent of his three-point attempts last season. While that is considered a down season for him, as it was the second-worst shooting season in his career, virtually every team in the NBA would sign up for that percentage again.
