#3 Moses Moody – Guard – Arkansas

Orlando needs scorers and guys that they can rely on offensively, which is why Moses Moody is an intriguing name for them to consider. The 6’6” guard helped lead Arkansas to the Elite-8 for the first time since 1995 and he was among the nation’s best shooters all season long in college.

For the Razorbacks, Moody averaged 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and shot 35.8% from three-point range, which does not seem high, but he took over 5 three-point attempts per game. Not only does he have the size to be a perfect match for the “modern day” shooting guard in the NBA, but Moses Moody uses his size and strength to score over smaller defenders either from the perimeter or on the drive.

He is an elite level perimeter player and his game will easily translate to the next level as a result. Overall, Moses Moody is the ideal “catch-and-shoot” shooting guard in today’s NBA and whether it is running to a spot in transition or stepping out on the perimeter in a half-court set, the young guard always seems to find an open spot on the court and his high release makes it hard for opponents to contest his shot.

When looking at the Magic’s roster moving forward, one of the biggest disadvantages they have is that they have virtually no perimeter threats. This team shot 34.3% as a team from deep during the 2020-21 season, ranking them 27th in the league and Gary Harris is the only guy on their roster who shot over 36% from deep this past season and he only played in 20 games for Orlando!

This team desperately needs shooting help, which is why they could target Moses Moody at some point in the first-round. The Magic have two of the first eight picks in this year’s draft (No. 5 and No. 8), as well as a second-round pick (No. 33), so they definitely have the ability to move up and down the draft board in order to draft Moses Moody.

The Magic are looking to rebuild and in today’s league, you need shooting to be able to do that! Moses Moody may not be the best perimeter threat in this draft class, but he is one of the better pure, offensive-minded talents available on the wing.

At 19-years-old, Moody is a young shooting guard that the Magic could look to build with for many years to come. He is exactly what teams are looking for at the shooting guard position today and should immediately be able to make an impact offensively in the league.
