3 trades featuring Russell Westbrook we’d like to see this offseason

Russell Westbrook, Washington Wizards, NBA Trade Rumors

It could be a whirlwind of an NBA offseason for the Washington Wizards in the coming months. The Wizards already fired Scott Brooks, leaving them with a decision on who to name their next head coach.

Also, there’s the fact that Bradley Beal wants to play for a franchise that can compete for a title. If Beal wants out, then all he has to do is say the word and Washington would have no choice but to comply. And if Beal ends up being traded, then Russell Westbrook would inevitably want a change of scenery.

Westbrook showed in 2020-21 that he’s still the same stat-stuffing guard that has captured the attention of fans for years. To put it into perspective, he is coming off an impressive season with averages of 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists.

An injury hindered his play early in the regular season, only for him to average a triple-double for the fourth time in his career. He also helped the Wizards make an improbable playoff run despite getting ousted in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers.

There should be plenty of teams intrigued by the idea of trading for Russell Westbrook in the event that the Wizards sought to undergo a rebuild. It would surely take Bradley Beal demanding a trade from the front office to get the ball rolling though.

It shouldn’t be ruled out that Beal could end up pulling off such a feat when considering the Wizards have underachieved time and time again. The team has failed to surround both he and Westbrook with shooting and quality defenders. If they do not add talent, Beal could look to go elsewhere.

Given the possibility of Westbrook being traded this offseason, here are three trades we’d love to see involving the exhilarating point guard.
