The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers were both eliminated in the Western Conference playoffs and both teams would like to make a splash this offseason if possible. One position that both teams need to improve is at point guard. A potential trade target for both teams could end up being Oklahoma City Thunder veteran star Kemba Walker.

Walker was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Thunder earlier this offseason. Making the move to ship him elsewhere seems very likely and both the Clippers and Lakers could make perfect sense.

According to a report from ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Clippers and Lakers are both expected to consider making a move for Walker.

“I think both the L.A. teams are going to be sniffing around Kemba Walker.”

This makes perfect sense for both the Los Angeles teams. Walker isn’t going to cost an arm and a leg to acquire. More than likely, Sam Presti and company will be looking for young players with potential or a first-round draft pick.

During the 2020-21 NBA season with the Celtics, Walker ended up averaging 19.3 points per game to go along with 4.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds. He shot 42 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36 percent of his three-point attempts. Those are not bad numbers at all for a player who Boston wanted to move so badly.

Walker is still capable of making a major impact for whoever ends up with him. If he heads to the Lakers or Clippers, he would provide a massive upgrade at the point guard position. He would be a big piece to propel both teams towards the NBA Finals.

Only time will tell what the Thunder end up doing with Kemba Walker. Other teams have been mentioned as potential landing spots like the Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls, and Miami Heat. However, the Lakers and Clippers make a ton of sense as well.

Expect to hear more rumors and news about Walker in the coming days and weeks. A trade from the Thunder seems very like and both Los Angeles teams are landing spots to keep a close eye on.
