Dallas Mavericks
Besides the Trail Blazers, the Dallas Mavericks are another franchise that has undergone some changes this offseason. Rick Carlisle and Donnie Nelson are no longer members of the organization, leaving a void at head coach and general manager.
After naming Jason Kidd the next head coach, the Mavericks needs to focus on improving the roster around Luka Doncic. There has been a significant emphasis placed on the team being in need of finding a secondary ball handler to pair with Doncic.
The Kristaps Porzingis experiment failed, which should lead the Mavericks to trading him this offseason. With room to sign free agents, Dallas could look to bring in DeMar DeRozan this summer.
It goes without saying that Doncic should be handling the ball on the majority of possessions for the Mavericks. But having someone like DeRozan that can take some pressure off of him would be ideal. There needs to be another threat that can run pick-and-rolls and score in isolation to keep the defense honest.

Even though DeRozan wouldn’t fix the Mavericks’ lack of rim protection, he would give them a second scoring option behind Doncic.
