It was another early exit from the postseason for the Portland Trail Blazers. This is now four times in five NBA seasons that Portland has been eliminated without advancing. This could cause some disgruntled feelings around certain players, which means they could try and force their way out of town.

The Trail Blazers have been in NBA trade rumors about splitting up the duo of Lillard and CJ McCollum for quite some time now but nothing has been done. If they were to do this, it was always McCollum being moved. However, recent backlash from fans over the head coaching hire and yet another playoff failure seemingly have changed things.

This includes the New York Knicks. This is a team that took a massive step this season. The Knicks were picked to win 20 or so games this season and ended with 41 and the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Their poor performance in the postseason against the Atlanta Hawks showed why the Knicks need a star to take over at the end of games. Executing a Damian Lillard trade would check two boxes.

There was a clear need for a primary option for New York in the playoffs. This is an NBA trade scenario that would go above and beyond achieving that.

A Damian Lillard trade would be welcomed with open arms by the New York Knicks. Here is what it might take for the Knicks to land the All-Star point guard in an NBA trade scenario.
