Entering the 2020-21 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets were projected to be one of the “teams to beat” not just because of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but because of Spencer Dinwiddie as well! With both Irving and Durant sidelined last season, Dinwiddie was the star of the Nets and he led them to the NBA Playoffs, averaging 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and shooting 41.5% from the floor.

He was expected to have a huge role with the Brooklyn Nets this season, but then 3 games into the year, Spencer Dinwiddie went down with an ACL injury in his right knee that kept him out for the remainder of the season. Who knows, maybe the Nets wouldn’t have traded for James Harden if Dinwiddie was healthy!

Nonetheless, after missing nearly the entire 2020-21 season, Spencer Dinwiddie is now ready to enter free agency after opting out of his player option for the 2021-22 season.

The Nets could potentially look at bringing back the veteran guard, but chances of him coming back to Brooklyn are not good given their financial situation.
