Eric Gordon – Houston Rockets
Another guy that is a veteran on a rebuilding team that could be on the move this offseason is Eric Gordon. However, his contract situation is a little tricky, which could push some teams away from potentially trading for him in the offseason.
Eric Gordon signed a four-year, $75.5M extension last season and still has three-years remaining on his contract entering the 2021-22 season. The good thing about his deal though is that in the final year of the contract (23-24), his contract is non-guaranteed and can be voided.
Prior to suffering a season ending groin injury, Eric Gordon was putting together a really solid season in Houston, averaging 17.8 points, 2.6 assists and shot 43.3% from the floor. Over the course of his now 13 year NBA career, Gordon has shot 36.8% from the three-point line and is the epitome of an experienced “3-and-D” type of player.
Being a part of numerous championship contending teams with James Harden in Houston, Eric Gordon definitely brings a winning aspect with him to any team that he would potentially be traded to. In Cleveland’s case, they could definitely utilize Gordon’s veteran leadership abilities and his skills as their “Sixth-Man.”

Given their current cap situation, adding Gordon and his contract may not be the most ideal thing for the Cavaliers to do right now, but from a pure skill standpoint, Eric Gordon is definitely the kind of player that could bring value to Cleveland during the 2021-22 season.
