Harrison Barnes – Sacramento Kings

Having a young backcourt in place and potentially getting Jarrett Allen back, the Cavaliers will be looking to add a forward to their roster if they are to trade the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, which is why Harrison Barnes would be an excellent addition for them.

The 29-year-old forward played his second full season in Sacramento this year and averaged 16.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and shot 49.7% from the floor. He did only play in 58 games this season though because of a nagging groin/leg injury.

What Harrison Barnes brings to the table for the Cavaliers is not only an experienced veteran who can lead a young team, but he brings championship pedigree with him to Cleveland. Barnes won a championship with the Warriors back in 2015 and the team they beat was the Cavaliers!

This offseason is going to be interesting for the Sacramento Kings, especially since Richaun Holmes is a free agent. They are going to do everything they can to keep their starting center, but Sacramento has some financial problems right now.

De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes are all going to make $20M+ during the 2021-22 season and then Marvin Bagley III is owed $11.3M, so if the Kings were to bring back Holmes on a $15M+ contract, they would be paying a lot in salaries for a team that is not close to contending in the Western Conference.

Buddy Hield has been the most mentioned Kings’ player to potentially be on the move, along with Marvin Bagley III, but trading Harrison Barnes is a very real possibility because of his value as an experienced forward that can play on the wing or in the low-post. Not to mention, his contract is kind of favorable since he only has two years left on his deal and his contract declines each year.

Cleveland could definitely benefit from adding a veteran guy like Harrison Barnes and adding him to their roster is definitely fair value for the No. 3 overall pick. However, the Cavaliers would probably want the Kings’ No. 9 overall selection and essentially get compensated to move down in the 2021 NBA Draft order.
