Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

It has been a long two years for the Golden State Warriors with injuries at the forefront. Stephen Curry showed that he is still one of the top players in the game but he needs some help.

Golden State lacked depth and experience this season outside of their all-time point guard. In this deal, they will get another player to throw into the rotation. Getting Klay Thompson back after two years is like signing a big-name free agent.

Not having Thompson has held the team back in recent years and that will hopefully come to an end next season. The Warriors hold two picks in the top 15 of this draft that they could use to make a blockbuster deal.

After what Simmons showed in the postseason, he could use a change of scenery and there are few better teams than the Warriors to go to. They have a strong backcourt in place and would be able to move Simmons to a new position that fits his skillset better.

Golden State is a well-run team with plenty of expectations next year when healthy. Simmons has a chance to contribute to the success if he can find a way to put this year behind him.
