Why Pistons should consider taking Jalen Green with No. 1 pick

Jalen Green, Detroit Pistons, 2021 NBA Draft

Things have not gone well in Detroit over the years, as the Pistons franchise has had back-to-back seasons with just 20-wins, but their fortunes may have finally changed for the better! The Detroit Pistons won this year’s draft lottery and as a result, are on the clock with the 1st pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

At this point, it seems like every is marking down Cade Cunningham to be the undisputed #1 overall pick in this year’s draft and for good reason!

Cunningham is this year’s top prospect given his size and skill at the point guard position and would immediately be able to elevate Detroit’s roster given how he makes everybody around him better.

Cade Cunningham has All-Star potential and could easily become the face of the franchise next to Jerami Grant in Detroit, but so could Jalen Green. Many people do not know about Green because he opted to play in the G-League instead of playing college basketball, but this guy is legit and is one of my favorite prospects in this year’s draft.

The narrative that the Pistons are “married to Cade” may be true and they may not be considering taking anybody else, but if they did consider Jalen Green with the #1 overall pick, they would not be crazy! Jalen Green is a legit NBA-ready player and at just 19-years-old, he has a tremendous amount of upside!

On July 29, it should not come as a shock to anybody to hear Cade Cunningham’s name be called first and him putting on a Detroit Pistons hat, but here are three reasons why the Pistons should strongly consider taking Jalen Green 1st overall instead of Cunningham.
