New York Knicks

Start spreading the news, the New York Knicks are back and are winning games! It has been a while since those words have been spoken with any significance behind them, but the Knicks are finally a relevant team again in the NBA and unlike Frank Sinatra, they are not “leaving today!”

The 2020-21 season was definitely a success for the New York Knicks, even if they lost in the first-round of the playoffs 4-1 to the Hawks. Tom Thibodeau won Coach of the Year in his first season with the Knicks, Julous Randle won the Most Improved Player award and with a ton of cap space, this organization has a chance to make some big moves in the offseason.

Adding a point guard is going to be one of their main priorities this offseason and with the free agent market kind of thin, Mike Conley is going to be one of the best available guards/players for the Knicks to target. Lonzo Ball and Kyle Lowry will also be two guys New York is expected to take a look at, but Conley would definitely be a much better fit.

He can be the veteran leader this team needs, he can be a go-to scoring option for them and defensively, Mike Conley would fit in great in Tom Thibodeau’s system. Not to mention, with the Knicks likely to bring back Derrick Rose, they would have two experienced and proven guards leading their rotations.

If Mike Conley wants to receive the biggest contract possible and go to a team that has playoff aspirations, then the New York Knicks are definitely a team that fits that description. They can pretty much offer him any contract he would want and with the Eastern Conference being slightly less competitive than the Western Conference, the Knicks should once again find themselves comfortably in the playoffs next season.

They may not be as talented of a team offensively compared to the Utah Jazz, but the New York Knicks are a lot like the Grizzlies’ teams that Conley was a part of throughout his career, fighting teams on the defensive-end of the court and converting defense to offense.
