The Indiana Pacers are entering what could be a very intriguing and busy offseason. After not making the playoffs and finishing their season in the play-in game for the No. 8 seed, Kevin Pritchard may be forced to make some sizable roster moves. Could the Pacers look into the option of trading for Philadelphia 76ers’ struggling star Ben Simmons?

Everyone is ripping Simmons for his performance in the NBA Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. He was a historically awful free-throw shooter and all of his confidence left him. Basically, Simmons was completely useless for the 76ers.

That has led many to believe that the 76ers could look to trade Simmons this offseason. While his trade value has definitely taken a hit, there are still reasons a team would consider trading for him. A team like the Pacers could view this as an opportunity to buy low on a talent they otherwise could never land.

During the 2020-21 NBA season with the 76ers, Simmons ended up averaging 14.3 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals. He shot 55.7 percent from the floor overall, but only knocked down 61.3 percent of his fouls hots. In the playoffs, however, he averaged 11.9 points, 8.8 assists, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting a brutal 34.2 percent from the foul line.

Indiana might not want to get involved with Simmons at this point in time. He failed to deliver when the 76ers needed him most and it was clear that he had zero ability to get out of his own head.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at how the Pacers could swing a trade for Ben Simmons with the 76ers should they choose to pursue that option.
