Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

Ben Simmons has been one of the more controversial players in the league since entering. His inability to shoot from three-point range has been in the spotlight and turned into a joke. He struggles from the free throw line as well and this has cost the Philadelphia 76ers some games, too, which makes his shortcomings all the more debilitating.

When Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey came to Philly prior to the regular season, they both confirmed that neither Ben Simmons nor Joel Embiid would be going anywhere. That is still true regarding Embiid after the year he had but the same cannot be said about Simmons.

While he certainly has his flaws, Simmons is still a big name with plenty of value and it would be smart to take advantage. Murray would be able to step into the starting role and fit in better with the offense. The overall return in this deal would give the 76ers more depth off the bench and draft picks, which they could use in multiple ways.

The 76ers are focused on the Hawks right now but the front office could have an eye on plans for the offseason. It would not be surprising to see Simmons on the move when the time comes.
