The Charlotte Hornets have been in need of a big man for years now. This is something they were going after last offseason but were unable to land that impact performer. After making it just to the NBA play-in tournament, the Hornets could be looking to be aggressive once again as they look to climb the way of the standings in the Eastern Conference.
LaMelo Ball was just named Rookie of the Year in the NBA. Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham are both strong guards that can take over again when needed. The Hornets also have Gordon Hayward, who was there big free-agent signing a year ago. They have plenty of flexibility if they want to trade away any of their backcourt members but they might not have to in certain deals.
The New York Knicks could be a trade partner for the Hornets because of their needs lining up. New York overachieved greatly this season. The Knicks landed the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference but turned in an underwhelming performance in the first round of the playoffs. They were eliminated in five games by the Atlanta Hawks.
Julius Randle, who was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year, was practically nonexistent throughout the series. The Knicks need to land another star if they want to make noise moving forward. This is not the deal but it would keep adding assets.
The Knicks are a team that has been unimpressive in the offseason in years past. Let’s take a look I want to potential deal might look like moving forward between the two sides.
