Kemba Walker
To kick things off, we’ll be looking at one of the most expensive options for the Bulls, making it an unlikely possibility for the franchise. The first move the Celtics’ front office made since those changes did not take long to occur. Walker was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in return for a package centered around Al Horford. It’s a real possibility that Walker could get dealt from the Thunder to a new team — creating a potential opportunity for the Bulls.
Besides Walker experiencing injury concerns in recent seasons, what makes Walker a hard sell for Boston is his current contract. Walker is owed $73.6 million in the next two seasons, and he possesses a player option in 2022, which he would likely opt-in to, regardless of where he’s playing. It’s tough to envision a scenario in which Walker says no to making $37.6 million in 2022.
Given Walker’s unfavorable contract, he would be a last-ditch plan for the Bulls at the point guard position. When healthy, Walker is still a player capable of scoring in bunches in certain games. But during his two-year stint in Boston, Walker showed that he doesn’t excel as an off-ball player, which could cause problems for a team that wants the ball in LaVine’s hands as much as possible.
