The Los Angeles Lakers are still fresh off of the disappointing finish to their 2020-21 NBA season at the hands of the Phoenix Suns. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were unable to stay healthy almost all season long and they could use some help next year. Could Detroit Pistons rising star Jerami Grant be a potential trade target to give James and Davis that much-needed help?

Grant put together a massive breakout season this year with the Pistons. He became an elite scorer and improved his range from the three-point line. There is still a lot of work for him to do, but he would be an excellent option behind James and Davis for the lakers.

During the 2020-21 season with the Pistons, Grant ended up averaging 22.3 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 0.6 steals. He shot 42.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 35 percent of his three-point attempts. While Grant is not a super dangerous three-point threat, he has been working hard on that area of his game.

Standing in at 6-foot-8 and 210 pounds, Grant is also a capable defender. His length and athleticism allows him to both stay in front of opposing players, while also being able to defend the rim a bit. No one would call him a “lock down defender,” but he would still help the Lakers on that end of the court.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at how the Lakers could pull off a trade for Jerami Grant with the Pistons this offseason.
