Why The Lakers Should Pursue This Trade For Jerami Grant

Quite simply, the Lakers need to go all-in with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They made some good moves last offseason with the addition of Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell. Unfortunately, neither of those two guys ended up being an ideal fit for the current roster.

Jerami Grant is a much easier gamble for the Lakers. He is a two-way player who doesn’t have to dominate the ball to be a massive impact player. During his one year with the Denver Nuggets, he made a major impact on both ends of the court and played behind both Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray seamlessly.

With the improved skill-set that Grant now has, the Lakers would be getting a player who can score at a high level. He can step out and knock down the three-point shot, but his bread and butter is his slashing ability. Los Angeles could use an elite slasher who can create his own shot and take pressure off of the superstar duo.

If they were able to acquire Grant for the price mentioned above, Los Angeles has to go for it. Grant is one of the more underrated players in the NBA and always has been. L.A. would be getting a guy who would instantly make them better and a more formidable contender in the Western Conference.

Losing in the first round of the playoffs is a no go for the Lakers’ franchise, especially with two of the best players in the NBA on their roster. Trading for Grant wouldn’t guarantee them an NBA Finals appearance next year, but he would certainly help them towards that goal in a big way. This is a deal that the Lakers absolutely should explore.
