Lakers Receive: Jerami Grant
Pistons Receive: Kyle Kuzma, 2021 First-Round Pick, 2023 Second-Round Pick, 2024 Second-Round Pick
Looking at this deal, there is nothing not to like from the Lakers’ perspective. They are already rumored to be interested in trading Kuzma and giving up draft picks doesn’t impact them much right now. Los Angeles has an open championship window and they have proven that they are going all-in on winning as many championships with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they possibly can.
On the other side of the trade, the Pistons would be getting back good value for Grant. Kuzma has struggled with consistency, but there is no denying his talent. With a bigger and more consistent role in Detroit, it could help him unlock his full potential.
Throwing in a first-round pick and two second-round picks is a no-brainer for the Lakers as well. They simply aren’t going to find players as impactful with those selections as Grant. For the Pistons, they need to acquire as many draft assets as they can in order to rebuild their roster around their current group of young players.
