Why The Los Angeles Clippers Should Pursue This Trade

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are one of the top superstar duos in the NBA. They have had the Clippers at the top of the NBA Finals contender rankings over the last two years. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the job done lsat season and while they are still alive this year, they still have quite a few holes that are obvious.

One of the main issues that the Clippers have run into is that when George or Leonard has an off night, the offensive as a whole struggles. That has led to L.A. needing top-notch performances from both of their main stars each and every game in the playoffs.

Bringing in a pure scorer like DeMar DeRozan would fix that issue immediately. DeRozan can create his own shot any time he touches the ball and is a pure slasher. He may struggle to shoot the three, but the Clippers need someone who can knock down the mid-range jumper and get to the rim at a high level.

DeRozan would be making a homecoming by returning to Los Angeles. That alone would be a cool story to follow. His game fits perfectly and there is no doubt that DeRozan would have interest in joining the Clippers.

This trade makes perfect sense for the Clippers. They get a player that fits perfectly and fills a major hole and they only have to give up two role players who don’t have a long-term fit with the franchise. If they can find a way to get this deal done and Leonard can get back to full healthy after his knee injury, the Clippers would be lethal next year.
