All-NBA Second Team

Guard: Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers (Total Voting Points: 372)

After getting beaten out as an All-Star starter by Luka Doncic this year, Lillard gets beaten out by Doncic again for All-NBA First Team honors. This is Lillard’s 6th time making an All-NBA team and third consecutive year that he has been named to the Second-Team.

With CJ McCollum missing a bunch of games during the regular season, Lillard stepped up for the Blazers again and finished the year averaging 28.8 points, 7.5 assists and shooting 45.1% from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range.

Damian Lillard has continued to prove why he is one of the best guards in the entire league and while he will soon be 31-years-old, he is just entering the best years of his career.

Guard: Chris Paul – Phoenix Suns (Total Voting Points: 311)

The “Point God” himself earns his 10th All-NBA honors by making the Second Team this year, tying Chris Paul for the 6th most All-NBA selections All-Time with legends like Elgin Baylor, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain and David Robinson.

In his first season with the Phoenix Suns, Chris Paul averaged 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists and shot 49.9% from the floor. The stats may not show it, but Paul was one of the best point guards in the league this year and the job he did leading this Phoenix Suns team was quite remarkable.

He has them currently sitting and waiting for their opponent in the Western Conference Finals and has a really strong chance to win a championship for the first-time in his career this year. Chris Paul being one of the 15 NBA players selected to the All-NBA list this year was a no-brainer.

Guard/Forward: LeBron James – Los Angeles Lakers (Total Voting Points: 174)

After 18 years in the league, LeBron James is still looking like one of the best players in the league and was selected to the All-NBA Second Team this year, adding onto his NBA All-Time high 17 All-NBA selections.

While James lost in the first-round of the playoffs for the first-time in his career this season, this season overall was overshadowed by injuries for “King James.” LeBron only played in 45 regular season games this year, due to injuries, averaging 25.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 7.8 assists and shooting 51.3% from the floor.

LeBron James has had a remarkable career to this point and making the All-NBA Second Team this year is yet just another accolade in one of the most decorated careers in NBA history.

Forward: Julius Randle – New York Knicks (Total Voting Points: 253)

The Knicks had a magical season this year and in large part because of how good Julius Randle was. Randle averaged 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists and shot 45.6% from the floor, 41.1% from three-point range, making him this year’s recipient of the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.

Julius Randle had a fantastic season for the Knicks this year and not only made his first All-Star appearance of his career, but is now an All-NBA performer. By being selected to the All-NBA Second Team this year, Randle became the 11th different player in Knicks history to make the All-NBA Second Team and the 13th different player in Knicks history to be selected to any of the All-NBA Teams.

Center: Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers (Total Voting Points: 352)

This year’s MVP runner-up should have been a no-brainer First-Team selection, but with just one center being able to make the list, Joel Embiid will have to settle with making the All-NBA Second Team for the third time in the last four seasons.

Embiid had a fantastic year during the regular season, averaging 28.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and shooting 51.3% from the floor, and he has established himself as one of the best big men in the entire league.

Joel Embiid finished second in the MVP voting to Nikola Jokic this year and if he had remained healthy the entire season, Embiid may have had a real shot to win this year’s award. Nonetheless, this season was still a very impressive showing for the 27-year-old big man and he will continue to be one of the best players in the league for years to come.
