Coming into the 2020-21 NBA season, the Miami Heat were expecting and hoping to see a massive breakout season for second-year guard Tyler Herro. While he played a valuable role this season, Herro did not have the huge breakout that many were expecting. He was solid once again, but he was unable to become a huge impact player.

Pat Riley and the Heat were not content with their first-round exit from the NBA Playoffs in sweep fashion against the Milwaukee Bucks. That could lead to some changes being made this offseason. A trade involving Herro isn’t necessarily “likely,” but he certainly shouldn’t be viewed as untouchable at this point in time.

During the 2020-21 NBA season with the Heat, Herro ended up averaging 15.1 points per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He shot 43.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers aren’t shabby at all, but they were not a leap like the Heat were expecting. His three-point shooting dipped, but the rest of his numbers took a jump up. Herro still is just 21 years old with plenty of time left to develop, but his trade value could also be the highest it will be, which could allow Miami to make a big splash.

With Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo leading the way, the Heat have a potential championship window. If a trade for a star materializes, Miami should not hesitate to be willing to include Herro.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three teams that should look into trading for Tyler Herro this offseason.
