Does this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?

The benefit for the New Orleans Pelicans goes without saying. They would be landing one of the best players in the game. Damian Lillard has shown that he is an all-time shooter and can be a closer in big games. He has led the Trail Blazers to many postseason appearances and could do the same in New Orleans. There are certain players that would thrive anywhere and Lillard is one of those players.

When looking at the Pelicans, Zion Williamson is the only truly untouchable player on the roster. He has quickly turned into an All-Star caliber player and will be in New Orleans long term. Ingram was viewed as his partner but for Lillard, the Pelicans will have to move him. That is something that would be worth it immediately.

When looking at potential destinations for Damian Lillard, New Orleans has to be near the top of the list because of the package they would be able to put together. The Trail Blazers would have plenty of offers and would have to choose the best one.

The Pelicans would turn things around right away with a move such as this one. Damian Lillard is a one-man rebuild and a point guard that could take New Orleans to where they want to be. It would not be surprising to see the team in the postseason in year one if a deal like this is made.
