Kristaps Porzingis was brought to Dallas to be a star next to Luka Doncic in hopes of getting the Mavericks to the top of the Western Conference. They are turning into a playoff contender year in and year out but Porzingis might not be happy with his role. This could lead to another blockbuster deal involving the former No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

A report came out that Porzingis does not feel like a star that is supposed to be next to Doncic. He is feeling more like a second fiddle in Dallas. Whether you view this as whiny or not, this is not the first Porzingis has caused some drama. He was a hot topic at the NBA trade deadline but the Mavericks know what they have and did not move him.

If there begins to be some disgruntled feelings, we could finally see that trade being made. The Mavericks are a team that is trending in the right direction and Luka Doncic is looking like a top-five player in the league. The last thing they want is problems within the organization.

If Porzingis is moved, teams looking for a big man would be in the market. The Charlotte Hornets have to be considered. They are strong in the backcourt led by Terry Rozier, LaMelo Ball, and Devonte’ Graham. They have some room if they want to move one of their guards in order to land a star.

If they can keep them, then that is even better. The Hornets took that step towards the postseason this year, kind of. They were a part of the play-in tournament in the Eastern Conference. This is an important offseason for a team like the Hornets looking to get into series play in the postseason.

These two teams could pull off a trade that would certainly turn some heads. Let’s take a look at what a potential deal could look like between Dallas and Charlotte.
