Golden State Warriors
It was a dreary day for fans of the Golden State Warriors during the 2020 NBA Draft as they found out that Klay Thompson would miss his second consecutive season due to injury. With the front office of the Warriors conjugating on who to take, James Wiseman would ultimately be the selection. Golden State believed that adding a formidable piece at center could help them return to being a playoff contender in the Western Conference.
However, James Wiseman would have an inconsistent rookie campaign that would be cut short by a season-ending injury. But with Klay Thompson and Wiseman expected to return next season alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, there is optimism for the Warriors. Even so, the window for Golden State to win with their trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green is gradually closing.
Last offseason, the Warriors didn’t exactly take a win-now approach as they only acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. in a trade to fill in for Thompson. Following their shortcomings in 2020-21 that saw them sitting from home in the playoffs, expect Golden State to be an aggressive team during the 2021 NBA Draft.
