Kemba Walker would provide a needed threat that can attack both off-the-catch or as an initiator alongside Luka Doncic. He can make defenses pay for ball watching and overloading his superstar teammate or take command of the second unit with staggered playing time.

The rest of this trade scenario is very intriguing for the Mavericks. The defensive impact and playmaking that Marcus Smart brings to the table would add needed impact for Dallas. Meanwhile, landing a wing shooter with potential like Aaron Nesmith would be helpful long-term.

There are clear injury concerns that come with Kemba Walker…but those are more than prevalent with Kristaps Porzingis, too. This trade scenario would make the Mavericks a deeper team with more practical impact around its best player in a needed way.
