Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
The Sacramento Kings enter the NBA offseason in a rather interesting situation. The franchise player, De’Aaron Fox, clearly is a highly talented player who is coming off an incredible season. Tyrese Haliburton showed plenty of intriguing flashes in his rookie campaign, too. Meanwhile, Richaun Holmes had a strong season during a contract year. But what else is there?

This offseason will require the Kings to determine if they want to pay a major price to bring back Richaun Holmes after he had a strong season in 2020-21. He’s going to command a major pay raise, but does it make sense for the Kings to pay top dollar to keep an underachieving team together?
Kristaps Porzingis, 25, came into the league as the number No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and he has lived up to the hype for the most part. Injuries have dampened a lot of his production, but he is very much an effective player who despite not being able to matchup
Porzingis, this season, is averaging 20.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists for the Dallas Mavericks while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor and 36.3 percent from beyond the arc. He would provide the type of stretch-five impact that would pull defenders out of the paint and significantly open up driving lanes for De’Aaron Fox to go to work.
