Why This Trade Makes Perfect Sense For The Bulls

On the other side of the deal, the Bulls are simply looking to push their way back into contention in the Eastern Conference. Coby White has shown a lot of big potential, but they want to win now. The trade to acquire Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic ahead of the trade deadline showed that.

Right now, the Bulls have a window to compete with Vucevic and Zach LaVine leading the way. Adding a dynamic scorer like Kemba Walker would help them accomplish their goal of making a playoff push.

Billy Donovan was hired as the team’s head coach last offseason and he immediately made a difference. His system could use a scoring point guard who can create for his teammates. Walker can fill that role and has shown his ability to do so throughout his entire NBA career up to this point.

The best part about this trade for the Bulls is that they would not have to part with a first-round pick. Giving up White is a steep price, but they don’t seem to be super committed to him long-term. Neither Satoransky or Aminu would be a deal breaker for Chicago.

With the rumors of interest in trading for Walker last offseason, revisiting that interest would make a lot of sense. Don’t be surprised if the Bulls look into what it would take to make a trade with the Celtics.
