Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?

While the Magic will be getting Joanthan Isaac back from injury at some point next year and while they do have a young, dynamic forward in Chuma Okeke, adding Marvin Bagley III would be a solid move for the Magic. They know Mo Bamba likely will not be a part of their long-term plans after next season anyways, so why not take a chance on a guy in Marvin Bagley III who has shown flashes of being a strong, versatile power-forward?

The Magic are going to be a team that is rebuilding all of next season anyways and they have no chance to win and make the playoffs, so they might as well try and figure out things for the future. With young guys like Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac, Chuma Okeke, Cole Anthony and others, the Magic have a solid foundation of young talent and adding Marvin Bagley III to the mix gives them another young and talented player to potentially build with.

Given that he is in the final year of his contract and plays a position that the Magic could need depth at moving forward, taking a chance on Bagley really poses no risk to the Orlando Magic which is why this trade makes sense for them.

He is already a somewhat polished player compared to who they could draft with the 33rd pick in this year’s draft and Mo Bamba does not have a future in Orlando, so making this move for Mavin Bagley III should definitely be something that peaks the Magic’s interest.

The biggest problem with Bagley over the course of his young career is that he has not been able to remain on the court due to multiple injuries. Worst case scenario for Orlando in this trade is that Bagley either gets hurt again or they just do not re-sign him, but the “boom” potential on a player of his caliber is definitely too much to pass up, especially if he is healthy.
