Orlando Magic Receive: F Marvin Bagley III
Sacramento Kings Receive: C Mo Bamba, ORL 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #33)
In this trade proposal, we added an extra second-round pick from Orlando to Sacramento to make the deal a little more balanced for both teams. While this may seem like a very lopsided trade given the talent of Marvin Bagley III, the Kings need to do something about their roster.
They run the risk of not only losing Richaun Holmes to free agency this offseason, but they could also lose Marvin Bagley III in free agency next year with him set to become a restricted free agent in 2022.

Both Marvin Bagley III and Mo Bamba were lottery picks during the 2018 NBA Draft, but both guys have underachieved given the expectations placed on them. Bagley has not been bad, averaging 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and shooting 50.0% from the floor in three seasons with the Kings, but as a former #2 overall pick, he has not lived up to the hype of being a “franchise-altering” player.
The same goes for Mo Bamba, who was drafted 6th overall the same year by the Orlando Magic. Bamba joined the Magic at a time when they really needed a young, dynamic center, but over these last three years, he has never really been given a chance to prove himself.

Since being drafted by Orlando, Bamba has averaged 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and has shot 47.1% from the floor, 32.5% from three-point range. With the Magic getting Wendell Carter Jr. at this year’s NBA trade deadline and Jonathan Isaac expected to return next season from a torn ACL, Bamba may not be needed anymore on this roster as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.
Both Bagley III and Bamba are entering the final years of their contracts and have underperformed given the expectations placed on them over the years, so could both the Magic and the Kings be interested in swapping “failed” draft picks?
