The Spurs can make a splash in NBA free agency this summer. One of those splash players they could target is Atlanta Hawk power forward, John Collins.

John Collins turned down a $90 million extension from the Hawks, as he is looking for something close to a max contract. San Antonio is one of the teams that could afford to offer the restricted free agent a max contract and his skill set would be a great fit as well.

John Collins has been improving as a defender and should be able to take more steps forward in that regard under Popovich. His skill set offensively, as someone able to pick-and-pop effectively or beat opponents at the rim with his athleticism, would pair well with the Spurs’ young guards and wings.

Prying John Collins away from Atlanta will not be easy. He has proven to be an integral part of their success and they can match any offer sheet he signs. They would have a difficult decision to make if a team such as San Antonio brought a max deal to the table.
