Orlando Magic Receive: G Kemba Walker, Aaron Nesmith, 2021 1st Round Pick
Boston Celtics Receive: G Markelle Fultz, G Gary Harris, 2022 2nd Round Pick (via IND)
The logistics behind this particular trade scenario are rather simple. Kemba Walker is owed roughly $36 million next season and has a $37.7 million player option for 2023-23. The Boston Celtics very well could look to once again, try to trade him to make for a more favorable salary cap situation around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
No team is going to want to take on Walker’s contract without being compensated for doing so. In this scenario, the Orlando Magic would receive a first-round pick and a young wing prospect in Aaron Nesmith to help be enticed into doing this deal.

The Celtics, in return, would get back Markelle Fultz, who is coming off a season-ending torn ACL injury. Meanwhile, Gary Harris is set to play on an expiring deal and is set to earn just under $20.5 million. He could help to preemptively replace Evan Fournier in the offseason as he is set to hit NBA free agency and is seeking a large contract of his own.
This trade gives both sides exactly what they’re looking for in terms of talent, and it’s a very fair deal between two competitive rosters. Let’s take a look at how this trade directly impacts each team directly.
