Zach LaVine

Now, let’s get on to the BIG names that the Knicks should be making calls about this offseason. Once again, finding a go-to scorer should be a priority for New York in the coming months. Relying on Randle to make difficult shots late in the shot clock is not a recipe for long-term success.

In all likeliness, the decision to acquire Nikola Vucevic ahead of this year’s NBA trade deadline has prolonged the chances of Zach LaVine being traded. Even though the Chicago Bulls missed the postseason with LaVine and Vucevic, the front office likely believes that they have potential together over the course of a full season.

At the very least, though, the Knicks should see what it would take to pry Zach LaVine away from Chicago. New York could always circle back later closer to the 2022 NBA trade deadline, if needed.

Why the Knicks should make an offer for LaVine shouldn’t need explaining. The former first-round pick out of UCLA made his first All-Star Game in 2020-2021 and still has plenty of room for improvement at 26 years old. Madison Square Garden would be a perfect place for LaVine to showcase just how talented he is.
