Kemba Walker

It seems like yesterday that Kemba Walker was one of the most underrated players in the NBA when he was producing impressive numbers with the Charlotte Hornets. Sadly, knee injuries have derailed Walker’s status as a consistent presence on the court. While Walker continues to put up respectable numbers for the Boston Celtics, his time in green may be coming to an end soon.

During the NBA trade deadline this season, Kemba Walker’s name popped up as Boston was looking to make a push in the second half of the season. The Celtics elected to keep Walker around after not being able to find a team that could give them what they were seeking for the veteran point guard.

Fast forward to now and Kemba Walker was sidelined for the final two games of Boston’s first round series, in which they were eliminated in give games by the Brooklyn Nets.

Kemba Walker enters this offseason with two years left on his current contract and he’s due a total of $73 million. If the Celtics want to maximize their window with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they’d best move on from Walker as soon as possible.

Getting a team to take a point guard with knee concerns on an expensive contract may prove to be a tricky obstacle for Boston. Nevertheless, some teams are desperate for a point guard that can score and orchestrate the offense, so there will always be a market for a player like Kemba Walker.
