Both the Pacers and Hornets made the NBA play-in tournament this season and the two teams faced off against one another for the rights to advance to the 8-seed game. Indiana ultimately won this match-up, ending Charlotte’s season, but then Indiana lost to the Wizards, ending their season.

So now, both the Pacers and Hornets are watching the NBA Playoffs from their homes after two very different seasons. Indiana looked like a team that could compete in the East on paper, but injuries and internal affairs limited their success this season.

For the Hornets, they were not expected to make the jump that they did this season, but with key young talents emerging into bigger roles and the arrival of LaMelo Ball, Charlotte was one of the most fun teams to watch during the regular season due to their energy and athletic players.

Heading into the offseason, both teams have some big decisions to make in regards to the futures of some of their key talents, but could both Indiana and Charlotte help each other out? Gordon Hayward was a big addition to the Hornets prior to the start of the 2020-21 season and was their leader all season long, but a foot injury kept him out late in the year, ultimately hurting the Hornets’ chances of doing anything in the play-in tournament.

They really like Hayward and what he can do for them moving forward, but the Hornets really need a center, which is why Myles Turner has been and will continue to be a target for them this offseason. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report came up with an offseason trade involving both teams and players, so let’s take a look at what this trade proposal looks like.
