Lauri Markkanen is beginning to become a hot topic in NBA trade rumors for the upcoming offseason. He will be a restricted free agent which means the Chicago Bulls would be able to pull off a sign-and-trade deal to move their big man. Markkanen has been linked to many teams around the league already and that includes the Sacramento Kings.

Many teams will have interest in Markkanen. They will have a chance to top the offer sheet and the Bulls could match. There is still a slim chance that he returns to Chicago but it certainly seems more likely that Markkanen is playing elsewhere next season.

The Bulls were not starting Markkanen down the stretch of the season. They finished just outside of the postseason race in the Eastern Conference and continue to be a rebuilding team. This means there could be some big moves coming from the Bulls in the offseason.

As for the Kings, they are looking for some talent to put with De’Aaron Fox. They have been a team featured in many NBA trade rumors but nothing has happened. Buddy Hield is still in the rotation and the team is no better off.

Sacramento continues to be one of the worst teams in the league and they are years away from competing. That is unless they are extremely aggressive in the offseason and land an impact performer such as Markkanen. Sacramento has gathered plenty of assets and they could use some in a move such as this one.

Both the Bulls and Kings are rebuilding but one side seems to be further along. Here is what a potential deal between the two sides might look like in the offseason based on the analysis of Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz.
