Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
The Charlotte Hornets have been in need of some help in the frontcourt for a couple of years now. They made a run at Montrezl Harrell in NBA free agency but did not close the deal. This is a team with talent and depth of the backcourt and they could be looking for an upgrade download to balance out the roster.
This is where Thompson could help right away. He was not fit in Boston and could perform better on a team like the Hornets. He would have plenty of guards who know how to pass the ball and to set him up in position. Thompson’s best value would be as a leader.
Thompson would be able to be a voice on and off the court that knows what it takes to get the job done with it matters most. This might not be the blockbuster deal that Hornets’ fans are looking for, but it is one that is a low risk and could end up working out in the end.

Making a move for Tristan Thompson would be far from expensive, which is another reason the Hornets should take a flyer on this deal. If, of course, Charlotte is unable to land a more dynamic talent in the offseason. When looking at their roster, Thompson would fit in well and give them a media floor balance on both ends.
