This Hawks-Spurs offseason trade shakes up both teams in a major way

While the NBA trade deadline has expired and the best rosters are facing off for a shot at hoisting a championship trophy, you can bet your bottom dollar that this upcoming offseason will be just as or more entertaining than the NBA trade deadline was. Two teams who could be interested in making an offseason splash could be the Atlanta Hawks and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Hawks are one of the best teams in the NBA this season as they are currently holding a 3-1 lead over the New York Knicks in the first-round of the playoffs. The San Antonio Spurs, however, are currently sitting at home after they failed to make a postseason appearance this season.

Onyeka Okongwu’s contract isn’t set to expire until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, but that shouldn’t prevent the Hawks from trying to deal him. The Hawks could get a great haul of talent in return for the for their former sixth overall pick in 2020, and the Spurs could be the team that gives them that value.
