Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?
For years now, ever since Derrick Rose hurt his knees and was not the same player, the Bulls have been searching for their next franchise point guard and they can get that in Lonzo Ball. Not only is Ball only 23-years-old, but he would fit in perfectly with guys like Zach LaVine and Coby White because of his ability to play with or without the ball in his hands.
Lonzo Ball had a career-year with the Pelicans this year, averaging 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and shooting 41.4% from the floor, but the most impressive aspect of his game is that he is now shooting well from three-point range. Ball shot 37.8% from three-point range this year and has proven to be a threat from outside after entering the league with a broken jumper.

The surge Lonzo Ball has made in his career at such a young age is quite impressive and with high-level talent around him in Chicago, he could be that third key player they need to finally make it back to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
Giving up Lauri Markkanen should not be a problem for Chicago, but losing both Markkanen and Thad Young could be a cause for concern. If they give up both of them, Chicago will be left with just Nikola Vucevic and Al-Farouq Aminu in their frontcourt, meaning that they would have to spend more money to bring in more frontcourt help.
The Bulls would likely be fine with swapping Markkanen for Ball, but giving up Thad Young as well could be the breaking point for Chicago in this trade, especially after he had a great year for them this season.
