This season has been a complete waste of time for the Boston Celtics, which is a big disappointment seeing as they were expected to be a true NBA championship contender in the Eastern Conference this year.

Boston did make the playoffs and currently find themselves in a series with the Nets, but this series is likely to end over the next week or so, sending the Boston Celtics’ players to the beach and their front-office back to the drawing board to figure out ways to make this team a true contender.

The Celtics have had some really competitive teams over the years, making the Eastern Conference Finals three of the last four seasons before this year, but they have not seemed to put together a winning equation to finally make it back to the NBA Finals for the first-time since 2010.

With Jayson Tatum continuing to develop into a star and Jaylen Brown making his first All-Star appearance this year, the future is bright for the young stars in Boston, but they need to have a better supporting cast around them.

Marcus Smart and Kemba Walker have been really good, but outside of them, this team is depleted and does not have any reliable players that Boston can lean on for production. As a result, this offseason will be crucial for GM Danny Aigne and the entire Celtics’ front-office to assemble a true championship contender moving forward.

The frontcourt has been the main area of concern for the Celtics over the years and they have been trying to find their next reliable option in the frontcourt ever since Kevin Garnett left. This offseason, they may have that opportunity finally and may look at a veteran center like Jonas Valanciunas.

The 29-year-old center has been great for Memphis this season and is a big part of why they are in the playoffs, but will the Memphis Grizzlies look to move on from their center in the offseason? Let’s take a look at a recent offseason trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz and see what Boston would have to give up to land Valanciunas.
