The Washington Wizards had an outstanding second half of the season, which pushed them into the NBA Play-In games in the Eastern Conference. They lost the 7th vs. 8th seed game against the Boston Celtics, but were able to defeat the Indiana Pacers in the battle for the 8th seed.
It set them up for a difficult matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers, but even making it that far was impressive. Washington looked like they were heading to another lottery and had to think hard about whether it was time to move on from Bradley Beal.
Now, the Wizards will use this offseason, whenever it comes around, to figure out how they can upgrade the roster around their dynamic backcourt of Beal and Russell Westbrook.
Building around two expensive players is not easy, but there should be free agents that want to team up with them and make a push in the Eastern Conference. Washington has some intriguing young pieces as well, so their development and some outside additions should help push them.
