Why The Trade Benefits The Warriors

The future of Kelly Oubre Jr. is probably the biggest question surrounding the Warriors heading into the offseason. The answer could be simple. The team is not in a position to re-sign Oubre Jr. and that means he will most likely be on the move.

Oubre Jr. will gain much attention and Golden State could choose this deal because of the return.

Dorian Finney-Smith is a strong three-point shooter while Dwight Powell could be an impact player that gives the team valuable minutes down low. Golden State will be back in contention next season once Thompson returns. Curry turned in an all-time season this year, while Draymond Green continues to be a do-it-all player for the Warriors.

Despite a season where they finished near the middle of the pack in the Western Conference, they are still championship contenders once they get healthy, especially Thompson. It is easy to imagine the Warriors finding a trade partner and making Oubre Jr. available.

The Warriors have a chance to make some noise in the offseason. After seeing the year they had despite injuries, it should give the front office confidence that the championship window has not closed just yet. This means there could be some big moves coming.
