The Spurs struggle to find production outside of DeRozan and Gay
One of the biggest weaknesses of the San Antonio Spurs this season is their inconsistent play on the offensive-end of the court and their lack of production outside of some of their veteran players. DeMar DeRozan has had yet another great season, averaging 21.6 PPG and Rudy Gay put together a solid season averaging roughly 11.4 PPG off-the-bench, but it is like “rolling the dice” with everybody else.
With Derrick White out, Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Patty Mills and Lonnie Walker IV are tasked with stepping up and being the secondary scorers on this team, but all have been very inconsistent all season long.

Murray has probably been the most steady option for the Spurs next to DeRozan, as he has been an all-around threat with his abilities to score, grab rebounds and dish out assists, but Johnson and Walker are very streaky scorers.
The same can be said about Patty Mills, who is mainly a perimeter threat off-the-bench that often times does not look to attack the paint. In order to beat the Grizzlies or advance further in this play-in format, the Spurs will need guys like Murray, Walker and Johnson to each score in double-figures, which is definitely a tall task given their inconsistent play.
The Grizzlies ranked 6th in net defensive rating this year and with plenty of solid perimeter defenders in Kyle Anderson, Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen and others, the Spurs wings will have a hard time attacking the Grizzlies on the interior.
