This offseason trade features Al Horford to the Raptors

Oklahoma City Thunder, Sam Presti, NBA Draft

Does this trade make sense for the OKC Thunder?

Quite honestly, it would be nice for the Thunder to take Al Horford off their payroll since he is eating away at their cap space, but they do not really need that cap space right now and they could probably get more value for Horford than two players that they are going to waive in this trade was to happen.

Aron Baynes and Rodney Hood present nothing to the Oklahoma City Thunder and their plans moving forward, so this trade would only be done as a “salary dump” to move Al Horford and his mega-contract.

While he is going to be turning 35-years-old soon, there are still a handful of teams that could be interested in Al Horford in the offseason. The Thunder have been looking to gain young talents and draft picks over the last few years, so instead of getting two salary dump players in return, this trade could probably be done for a single second-round pick.

At this point, the Thunder just want to move Al Horford and maybe they will be willing to take two guys like Baynes and Hood in return for salary purposes, but overall, all you need to do is offer GM Sam Presti a draft pick and he will accept the offer!

Al Horford should be moved by the Thunder in the offseason, but this trade with the Raptors does not make a whole lot of sense for OKC unless they just want to get Horford off of their payroll.
