As mentioned earlier, the Philadelphia 76ers were one of the teams highly involved in a potential deal for Kyle Lowry at the NBA trade deadline this past year and had a deal in place to bring him back to where he is from, but the Raptors decided to hold onto Lowry last minute.

The 76ers finished with one of the best records in the league and could potentially win a championship this year, but they are still likely to pursue Kyle Lowry in NBA free agency this coming offseason according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and John Hollinger

Given that Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid account for about $100.4M in salary next season, they do not have much room to absorb another big contract within having to pay a ton of money in luxury taxes.

If the 76ers fail to win a championship this year, going out and spending money to bring in Kyle Lowry could definitely make a ton of sense, but the possibility of trading Ben Simmons is also still in play. Simmons has not improved at all as an offensive player and does not bring much to the table other than being a great passer, so the option of trading him at some point still definitely exists.

While it would cost them a ton of money to do so, the Philadelphia 76ers could definitely make a sign-and-trade for Lowry work while keeping Simmons, Harris and Embiid in the process.

The 76ers would have to move some key guys like George Hill, Seth Curry and potentially some young talents in Matisse Thybulle and Shake Milton, but the possibility of adding Lowry definitely still exists for the Sixers and they should remain as heavy favorites to potentially get him in the offseason.
