3 teams who could strongly consider pursuing John Wall if bought out

The Houston Rockets and John Wall were thought of as being a late-ditch effort to potentially keep James Harden in town after Russell Westbrook wanted out. That obviously has since not panned out and H-Town is headed for a long-term rebuild. Now, Wall doesn’t make sense as the team’s point guard as the NBA offseason approaches.

The Rockets and Wall appear to be on the fast track toward a buyout agreement this offseason. This would make Wall an unrestricted free agent and he would join a class of free agent point guards that include Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley, and Lonzo Ball among others.

Wall is coming off a torn Achilles injury that kept him sidelined for all of the 2019-20 NBA season. He has appeared in 40 games for the Rockets this season and has provided averages of 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists.

There are legitimate criticisms of how Wall has played this season but it’s important to remember that he was expected to look inconsistent after his injuries. The thinking for teams interested in signing him would be that having a full offseason to train and build off his return to action could lead to more consistent results.

There will be plenty of NBA teams seeking a starting-caliber veteran point guard and Wall will be among the more intriguing options – assuming he does reach a buyout agreement. He will certainly be a name to watch in NBA rumors as the time approaches.

With all of that being said, let’s take a look at three teams who make the most sense to sign John Wall if he were to reach a buyout agreement with the Houston Rockets this offseason.
