Dallas Mavericks
With Luka Doncic as the star of their team, the Mavericks will be in the discussion for the playoffs and a potential championship year-after-year, but it seems like this team is still a few pieces away from reaching their full potential. Kristaps Porzingis, when healthy, is a great second option next to Luka, but this team does not really have anybody else that can “carry the load.”
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been the Mavericks third scoring option all season long and other guys like Jalen Brunson, Josh Richardson and Dorian Finney-Smith have had their moments, but this team will really need to focus on the offensive-end of the court in the offseason.
Doncic needs another reliable offensive option to turn to for production, which is why going after Lonzo Ball makes sense. Not only can he score and shoot from beyond-the-arc, but Lonzo Ball is a great facilitator that can take a ton of pressure off of Luka Doncic within the flow of the Mavericks’ offense.

Right now, Luka does everything for this Mavericks team on the offensive-end of the court and he does not really have any help in terms of facilitating and ball-handling duties. If you add Lonzo to this team, Luka can focus more on being the high-level scoring option that he is and quite honestly, he could probably be more durable since Lonzo Ball could do a lot of the “dirty work.”
They would still need to play around in the offseason and add another high-level scoring option, but with a projected $21.1M in cap space and guys like Josh Richardson, Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber on move-able contracts, the Mavericks could definitely make a ton of moves to change up their roster for the better.
Whether it is Lonzo Ball or someone else, expect to see the Dallas Mavericks make some key moves in the offseason to try and set themselves up for postseason success moving forward.
