Anthony Davis must remain on the court

Anthony Davis has played in only 33 games this season due to injuries, the fewest amount of games he has played in a season in his career, but when he has been on the court, he has been unstoppable for the Lakers.

On the season, Davis is averaging 21.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.8 blocks and shooting 49.8% from the floor, but over the last few weeks, Davis has elevated his game to a new level. The 8-time All-Star knows what is at stake for the Lakers and with LeBron James out, AD has done everything he can to help this team win games when it matters most.

Over his last two games against the Blazers and the Suns, Davis has scored 36 and 42 points respectively, while grabbing a total of 24 rebounds and dishing out a total of 10 assists. The Lakers ultimately lost a close one to the Portland Trail Blazers, but they are coming off a much needed win against one of the better teams in the league in the Phoenix Suns.

If Davis can be as dominant as he was in those two games during the Lakers final four games of the regular season, there is no reason that they cannot find their way to the 6-seed and avoid having to play in this year’s play-in tournament.

Losing to the Blazers hurt the other night, especially since now both Portland and Dallas have the regular season tiebreakers over Los Angeles hurt, but if Davis can continue looking like the best frontcourt player in the league and remain healthy, then he can help lead the Lakers past the play-in tournament.

With or without LeBron James, this is the Anthony Davis that Lakers fans wanted to see and that they will need during the last week of the regular season.
